Karimar Kennels is owned by Karie and Mark Byers in Fowlerville, Michigan. We have been breeding Labrador Retrievers since 1992 and Gordon Setters since 1996, our Beagles came along in January of 2005. Karie has been in the "pure bred dog world" since birth; Mark came into it by marriage. While we are extremely active in the conformation ring, we also take much pride in the offspring bearing the Karimar name residing on couches being "just pets". We strive to produce genetically clean, family oriented, quality dogs that look like show dogs but maintain their original purpose. Dual purpose is more than a catchy slogan here at Karimar.

Champion Labrador and Gordon Setter stud service is available to qualified females. All Labrador breeding stock is OFA hips, elbow and cardiac certified and CERF clear. Gordon breeding stock is OFA/Penn-Hip certified and CERF clear. Puppies are born and raised in our home with our young children. All puppies come to you microchipped, having had their first shots, worm checked and are started on heartworm preventative. We also introduce our puppies to feathers/birds and Gordon puppies to the grooming table. All of our dogs come with WRITTEN health guarantees. In order to assure that only the best specimens are used for breeding, all pet puppies are sold on spay/neuter contracts with A.K.C limited registration.

Through the careful and selective breeding by responsible breeders, Labrador Retrievers and Gordon Setters both have made great strides in improving their hips. Labradors have improved by 20 to 30% and Gordon's have improved by 30 to 40%. We guarantee hips, eyes, and elbows in our Labradors...and you should demand no less from your puppy's breeder!

Our Breeding Philosophy:

Here at Karimar Kennels, we believe that temperament, soundness, good looks and working ability go hand in hand. There is no reason that a pretty dog can't work or that a working dog can't be pretty to look at. In our selective breeding program, we use only hip, eye and elbow clear stock in our Labradors and hip and eye clear stock in our Gordon Setters, thus producing dogs that show, hunt, wrestle with the kids and are genetically sound. Genetics are what make the dog, and although there are no absolutes, we guarantee to you that we have done all we could to live up to our belief.
